Getting started with Stata (Stata Crash Course fall 2017)

Information

Stata is the software of choice for many of the econometric courses held at the School of Economics and Business. The course is an introduction to Stata, no prior knowledge of Stata needed. The course will give you hands-on experience using Stata and is a mixture of lectures and exercise solving. You do not need to bring your own computer with Stata installed, the course is held in T301 (computer room in Tower building).

Learning objectives include

Familiarize yourself with the Stata interface
Get data in and out of Stata
Compute new variables and transformations
Compute very basic statistics and construct of graphs
Learn to use a do-file
Where to find help when needed

There will be three identical groups.

Dates:

Thursday 07.09 10.15-14.00 (Group 1)
Friday 08.09 08.15-12.00 (Group 2)
Monday 11.09 08.15-12.00 (Group 3)

You can purchase Stata here. All computers in computer rooms at the School of Economics and Business have Stata installed.
